Mariyam Omar

My work is based on exploring empty space through portrayal of gestures of hands and feet emphasizing on the figure. Aside from paints, working with coffee gives me more freedom of experimenting with organic texture that is unpredictable and susceptible to change.

I have also explored installations that first began taking form from painting on wood and wanting to be able to make something come out of the wood literally. I have been fascinated with making something organic out of materials normaly associated with an industrial environment.

Some Group Exhibition opportunities I had include exhibiting at theBangladesh Biennale in 2008.Following the Indian Saarc Art Campin 2010, ‘Puducherry Blue’ was exhibited at Hotel Lalit, Barakhamba Lane, New Delhi, India.
